Our History
Art Vistas' program was formed in 1984 by eight parents in the Union School District. Their main purpose was to provide instruction and enrichment in art appreciation, art history, and art techniques to the children in our district. The program was successfully adopted by each elementary and middle school in the first few years and is currently taught in every public school in the Union School District including many schools in the surrounding districts.
For over 40 years, Art Vistas docents have been bringing great works of art into the classrooms and conducting interactive discussions with the students followed by hands-on projects that provide unique and creative opportunities.
The dedicated volunteers of Art Vistas devote many hours to the program in training, preparing materials, and presenting lessons in the classrooms. Our goal is to continue providing this valuable program to the students in the Union School District, neighboring schools, and beyond.
